Naval Boarding Blunderbuss

Naval Boarding Blunderbuss

A large and very impressive Royal Navy Boarding blunderbuss of the late Georgian era. With the barrel stamped "T.C", this was produced by Thomas Chambers of London, with English proof marks also adorning the barrel.

The lock is of a late design, incorporating a waterproof pan, and reinforced hammer cock, much like an M1810 Brown Bess. The frizzen also features a roller bearing design at it's interface with the frizzen spring. This was a late period design improvement to speed up lock action, through minimising drag.

The woodwork is in very good condition, with only one small repair to the left hand barrel pin hole. The lock has very strong springs, and all screws are original and removeable.

Total length is 84cm, with a whopping 34mm muzzle. An excellent piece is history, and much stouter than your average coaching blunderbuss.
