P53 Three Band Rifle

P53 Three Band Rifle

Here we have a nice example of an early .577 P53 Rifled musket. This piece is dated to 1855, and will have been hurridly manufactured for the ongoing Crimean War, where the British army were struggeling to phase out the outdated P42 musket. The lock is tower marked, denoting Birmingham manufacture by an amalgomation of gunsmiths that would soon go on to form the 'BSA' company, in hope of depriving the RSAF at Enfield of government orders. The piece has plenty of British proof marks, with nice woodwork, and a visibly rifled barrel.

A good example of an increasingly collectible rifle, with the correct swelled type loading rod, and an original leather sling. Total length is 140cm.
