Martini Henry Francotte
A nice and most unusual Francotte pattern Nepalese Martini henry, in it's original .577/.450 calibre. These short lever rifles were manufactured from 1878 onwards, with the Francotte patent benefiting from an quick detaching mechanism, without a cocking indicator. a much improved design which did away with the awkward breech block removal process of it's British made conterpart. Although replaced in 1888 by the magazine Lee Matford, these rifles saw continued use throughout the empire well into the early 20th century.
This piece is in a good mechanical condition, with mirnor woodwork loss around the butt plate and receiver. The rifle has a good acion, that locks up well, nice bore, and it's original cleaning rod. The condition of this piece is better than most, considering their long and harsh service life, coupled with a length storage under the palace of Nepal. Total length is 126cm.
